We tried out the Wonderful Pistachios range that includes tasty Roasted Salted, Salt & Pepper, Roasted Unsalted and the new Sweet Chilli flavour
These are the only flavoured pistachios available in the UK.
They also appear to be one of the healthiest nut options around.
California pistachios are the most nutrient dense and pack more antioxidant power than any other snack nut. Rich in eight essential nutrients and polyphenol antioxidants, pistachios are known to be highly beneficial for optimum health, particularly heart health.
Well whatever the health claims, Grandad certainly enjoyed them as did son number one. They are the biggest nut fans in the family so they are a good guide. Both agreed that although they enjoyed the chilli option, the flavour did overtake the nut itself. However, the range is varied so there is something for all nut-lovers and they would make a great additon to any party.
Pistachios are known as the “Skinny Nut” because they’re one of the lowest calorie, lowest fat nuts and offer more nuts per serving compared to most other snack nuts. Research shows that as one of the only in-shell snack nuts, pistachios help slow consumption and the empty shells offer a visual cue, reducing calorie intake. This effect is known as “The Pistachio Principle.”
“The Pistachio Principle” in this house meant that I found shells in most rooms in the house as my son kept going back for more.
You can pick up a bag of Wonderful Pistachios from Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. RRP is £1.99 (150g) and £3.19 (250g).
