Do you know a wonderful mum that you would treat if you got the chance?
If you are like me, several names and faces will spring immediately to your mind.
Time is running out to nominate these stars for the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards Nominations close on Friday 13th September 2013 so take action now.
Don’t put it off! Imagine how special that mum will feel to be nominated for such a prestigious award. How would you feel?
We all know motherhood is a joyous and yet very challenging experience. I am in favour of anything that celebrates ordinary mums who do extraordinary things.
So what mums sprang immediately to my mind on hearing about these awards?
I think about my own mum who brought up her own two children and then adopted me. I think of how she always worked tirelessly for her community. She reached out to older people to ensure they were not lonely setting up social clubs and ensuring they got a good meal on a regular basis. She would send things in to school for the child whose family were poor quietly and without fuss. Even when she was terminally ill, she was busy working out how to raise funds for a child who needed a life-saving operation overseas. She did not know the child but she wanted to help.
Who helps make things better in your community? Nominate them.
I think about my old school and college friends who helped me see light when I was experiencing post-natal depression. They had their own issues with their own families and they still made time for me. I have so many online friends who are mums and they tend to be the ones to support me when I am confronted with redundancy, bereavement and all those things that crop up in all our lives from time to time.
Who has helped you when you have experienced a life crisis? Nominate them.
I think about a mum who believed in me when I had totally given up on myself. An intelligent mum who has built a successful business and says little about the challenges she has overcome to do so. This mum changed my life.
I think about the mum who I met and connected with instantly at an event last year. I think about her marvellous work raising awareness and how she makes me laugh which is a very good thing.
Who is the mum that has changed your life for the better? Nominate them.
The winners of the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards will be invited to a glitzy awards do in London with 2 nights in a luxury hotel. They will be provided with a gorgeous outfit for the event.
I guarantee you can think of at least one mum to nominate.
The mums who lose babies or other family members and throw themselves into fundraising to reduce the chances of other families facing such pain.
The mums who become involved in fostering.
The mums who tackle anti-social behaviour in their communities.
Your mum, sister, colleague or friend.
Nominate them and do it now because if you are a mum, you will be busy and you might forget. This mum deserves recognition so don’t have that awful feeling of “I wish I had nominated” when the deadline passes.
I an an Official Tesco Mum of the Year Awards blogger and will be recompensed for my time
