It’s time to Spring into action and make some home improvements.
I love our home as it is spacious and characterful. It is fun to spend time making it suit us in various ways. I have the house just about sorted. Outside we have a small yard or patio. It reminds me of those lovely sun terraces in “A Place in the Sun” on the telly so I call it my ground floor roof terrace!
It is small and walled with a quirky and attractive metal gate. It is a sun trap. It definitely needs a makeover as our broken washer is about all that is in it at the moment along with some battered garden chairs and the green recycling bin.
So a Bank Holiday shopping trip is in order. I have already secured a garden screen via Ebay which will ensure I have privacy and sanctuary outdoors. My plan is to spend a lot of time reading in the sunshine.
I am looking for a milk churn to add some colourful interest. I am going to decorate the cream walls with colourful plates when I can work out how to attach them.
I am popping to B and Q to try to put a herb garden together so that the patio has a sensory feel too.
Finally, I need to measure and see if we can squeeze in a garden swing. In fact, I wonder if my Mum’s memorial bench could be transformed into one. There was nothing she enjoyed more than a garden swing so it would seem right.
I have had some generous help from Saga Equity Release towards my improvements as part of their campaign to highlight the fact that the most popular use for money generated from equity release is home improvements.
Let me know if you have any great ideas or tips for making a small patio pretty and welcoming.
