I like all of the seasons.
I like the snow in Winter.
I like Spring for the colour.
I like Summer because of the six week holiday.
I like Autumn because of my birthday.
Last year, my daughter wrote the following about growing up
“My gift to the world is ..
* To share my money with the poor
* To kiss and hug my mummy
* To love everyone
* To do the best I can
* To use good manners a lot
When I asked her yesterday what she wants to be when she grows up, she said “Well, how do I know?”
Then today she announced whilst watching a television debate, “Why would you help charitable causes when you can work in a hair salon”.
What a difference a year makes!
I am linking this up over on BritMums as part of the linky #WhenIGrowUp which is a quick way to let folks know that Asda are supporting Tommy’s the baby charity with donations going to the charity from their current Baby and Toddler event.
Why support this event?
Tommy’s funds vital medical research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage, and supports hundreds of families across the UK when they have to suffer the trauma of a pregnancy loss or complication.
Problems in pregnancy traditionally receive very little funding for research in the UK, which is why Tommy’s work is so vital. In turn, none of Tommy’s work would be possible without the support of the public, and partners like Asda.
So far Asda’s contribution to Tommy’s has enabled:
Ø Funding of Tommy’s PregnancyLine – a freephone phone line, staffed by midwives, which anyone can ring for support or advice following a pregnancy complication or loss. The line is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm – our midwives can be called on: 0800 0147 800.
Ø The charity’s new ‘Having a Premature Baby’ guide – an essential book for anyone who has had, or is at risk of, having a premature baby
.By supporting the Asda Baby & Toddler event this August, the public can help Tommy’s continue their vital research to ensure that more babies are born healthy, and offer the continued support that families so desperately need after the loss of a baby. With 1 in 4 women losing a baby at pregnancy or birth in the UK, the issues Tommy’s deal with affect a huge number of families each year, yet there are still many unanswered questions as to why complications in pregnancy happen – Tommy’s exists to change this. www.tommys.org
You can also support Tommy’s every time you shop online with one of thousands of retailers (just about all the ones you can think of) by signing up here http://www.give.as/savingbabieslives
Once you are signed up with your name and email address, retailers will happily make a donation to Tommy’s (or a charity or your choice) using a percentage of what you have spent with them and at no extra cost to you.
