Eco-Friendly Ways to Keep Your House Cool
I am delighted to share a guest post from my blogger friend Simone on eco-friendly ways to keep your house cool in the warmer weather. You can find Simone’s writing at https://midlandstraveller.com/
There is no doubt that a heatwave can be challenging to get through. As a species of people, we are very susceptible to changes in our environment. Extreme temperatures don’t sit well with us; even a few degrees up or down can make a difference.
When the height of summer does arrive, it’s common for people to try and crank up the air conditioning and get through it. However, this isn’t all that good for the environment, so we’ll be taking a look at a few environmentally friendly things you can do.
Eco-friendly ways to keep your house cool
So, when you are trying to stay cool in the summer, it can be challenging to sleep at night. The first reaction may well be to sleep without any bedding at all, but this is not the best option. Instead, go for some lightweight sheets without a duvet in them.
It’ll be much more comfortable to sleep in, and also offers you some warmth if the weather suddenly dips at night – a common issue with heatwaves especially.
Sleep Downstairs
If you’re trying to avoid overheating, especially at night, it is a good idea to stay downstairs. Heat rises, and so when you spend a lot of your time upstairs, you’re going to experience a higher temperature than if you stayed downstairs and out of the heat.
You can quickly move a lot of your life to the downstairs for a bit, whether it is sleeping or working. It’ll just be until the summer wears off, so it’s not like you’ll have to worry about it forever.
Keep Ambient Temperature Down
One of the best things that you can do to maintain a lower temperature and stop yourself from straying into environmentally damaging forms of cooling is to keep the curtains and the blinds are drawn but the window open.
What you’re doing is allowing the cold air to get in, but at the same time, you’re also making sure that the overall temperature is reduced. This can be so important for making sure that you are staying cooler. The sun will only serve to amp up the heat, so you need to shut it out and her rid of it as soon as you can.
Overall, these are just some of the ways that you can keep your home cool during either a heatwave or the summer.
It’s not helpful to have to deal with higher temperatures when you’re not used to it, and we can appreciate that for many it is a serious issue that they are not sure how to resolve.
However, it is all about making sure that you are doing your best to try and get on board with the different experiences and things that you can do to make sure that you are protecting the environment while bringing down the overall temperature of your home.
Thankfully, you will find that it is only temporary and that the summer will stop soon enough. However, until the warmer months or heatwave stops, it is advisable to try out some of these tips for yourself!
