When was the last time you treated yourself to a new bra or knickers? I always find when I take the time to go underwear shopping from stores like Simply Be I feel I am investing in myself and that makes me feel good. It used to be so simple but after having children finding a pair of pants that fit properly can prove challenging. As I go up and down weight wise my bra size can change too. So heading for a lingerie store can seem a little challenging but here are 5 tips for buying underwear that work for me.
Tips for buying underwear
It pays dividends in terms of saving your time and money if you are sure what size you are. Get your tape measure out and be honest about the size you are by not pulling that measure too tight. There are some really great sizing guides online nowadays. There is a real joy in knowing your pants are not about to fall down and your bra will support you properly. Some shops have staff who are more than happy to measure you for a bra. Don’t be shy and take advantage of their services.
Decide if you are going for comfort or high fashion
There are days when I want to unleash my inner siren and others when I want to just feel comfortable. It’s a good idea to decide before you head online or to the shops to make sure you are clear on what you are looking for. That will save you making any expensive mistakes. If I am going for comfort I don’t go far wrong with a T-shirt bra and knickers that go up to the waist. I don’t like underwired bras at all and if you shop savvy, you can find comfy alternatives.
Pants for periods and incontinence
It is wonderful that there are now knickers that will protect you at that time of the month. Also if becoming a mum has left you leaking a little when you laugh or having trampoline moments, you can buy pants that protect you too. Some of them are quite stylish too.
We are all more aware of the environment nowadays and that includes manufacturers of lingerie. I first became aware of this when I received a bamboo bra to review. You might have to do a little research but you can buy your underwear with the protection of the environment in mind too.
You really are worth it
As busy mums, it can be so easy to put ourselves last on the list when it comes to treats and spending money. However, you work hard and deserve to feel great about yourself. Having the right underwear can make you feel empowered and ready to take on whatever challenges come your way. If you are going to a job interview or an important social event, you don’t want to spend the whole time worrying about the state of your undies.
