Fun Ways to Celebrate Your First Wedding Anniversary

It seems like only yesterday when you finally said “I do” to your other half. Yet somehow, an entire year has passed in the blink of an eye. Now, you’re searching for ways to celebrate this special occasion, and create more meaningful memories for your life together with your soulmate.

Traditionally, the one year anniversary for a wedding is the “paper” year, when you celebrate each other with paper-based gifts. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to have a flimsy celebration. Check out our top tips for celebrating your very first anniversary as husband and wife, and don’t be afraid to add your own unique touches to the mix. UKGifts.co.uk have some fantastic gift ideas for your wife if you get stuck.

1.    Reminisce on Your Wedding Day

We all wish we could relive our wedding day sometimes. Those wonderful days when we finally say the all-important words to the people that we love most are something that many of us will never forget. Although you might not be able to relive the entire day again, you can bring back some of the memories by revisiting the place where you said your vows.

If you were married at a local hotel, you can grab a room and a meal nearby for an evening. You could ask for the bridal suite again if a wedding isn’t booked. Remember to bring any photos and videos from your wedding along with you so that you can pour over them together when you’re relaxing in bed.

2.    Have another Honeymoon

Time really does fly when you’re having fun, and that’s definitely the case when you’re married to your best friend. If you want to revisit the bliss of your honeymoon, then why not book a quick trip out of town. You don’t need to go to the exact same place, or stay away for as long, but a weekend away could be an excellent way to rediscover the romance.

If you really want to feel like you’re newly weds all over again, then you could even think about telling the hotel staff that you’ve just got married. We won’t tell them the truth if you don’t!

3.    Have a Night In

Okay, this might not sound super exciting if you spend every night curled up in front of the television together. However, you can even make a night in super special if you have the right creativity in mind. Grab some of your favourite wine – the really expensive stuff, and treat each other to some amazing gifts, including sexy lingerie and sensuous massages.

Make sure that you ignore all other people from the outside world on your big day, and spend the night celebrating all the love that you continue to share a year on from the day that you said I do. You don’t need to leave your house – or your bedroom, for a great anniversary.

4.    Treat Each other to Something Special

Paper might be the traditional gift for a first wedding anniversary, but you don’t have to stick to that if you don’t want to. Instead, if your wallets and bank accounts have recovered from the expenses of your wedding, you could consider splashing out on a big gift. Think about what your other half might really love from you, and make sure it’s romantic.

You could even go out and purchase something together, like a piece of artwork that you both love, or a one-year anniversary photo shoot. You don’t have to spend a fortune if you don’t want to, but the idea here is to really treat each other to something special, even if you just have enough money to cook something at home or make an item from scratch. It’s the thought that counts, remember.

5.    Get All Dressed Up

Finally, one of the most exciting parts of your wedding day is that you have a chance to look your absolute best in front of your friends and family. So why not relive that experience by getting glam and having an amazing night on the town together. Hubby can go and get a professional shave and make sure his hair looks great, while wife can have her nails and makeup done by a professional.

Make reservations at a restaurant that you both love and make a full night of showing everyone how amazing you both look together. This is your perfect chance to show everyone what a gorgeous couple you make, even if you can’t necessarily wear your wedding outfits all over again.
