Top Blog Posts — 11 from August 2026 and All‑Time Favourites
There’s something deliciously satisfying about the number eleven. It’s a little quirky, a little unexpected, and—if you know me—you’ll know that makes it perfect. So today I’m sharing my Top Blog Posts, pulling from both August 2026 and the all‑time archive. And yes: eleven is going to become a recurring thing on the blog moving forward. Think of it as my signature format—quirky, confident, and just a touch rebellious.
🌿 Why Eleven?
Eleven gives me room to breathe. Ten feels too neat, too corporate. Twelve feels like a committee or jury decision. But eleven? Eleven is this woman choosing her own rules. Expect future round‑ups, reflections, and curated lists to follow this pattern—my Top 11 will become a regular feature across Woman on Thin Ice.
📚 My Top Blog Posts (August 2026 + All‑Time)
- Celebrity Inspiration— Good golly, Miss Dolly! As the world reels from the news of her passing, I shared the confidence lessons inspired by Dolly Parton for women including my mum, daughter and myself. Dolly’s legacies are huge including the vital work of her Imagination Library.
- Anonymous — Reflections on the very particular form of grief experienced by birth mums who lose a child to adoption.
- 10 Things Not to Say to a Cancer Patient —Like so many of us, I am looking on as a lovely friend faces cancer treatment. This post really resonated with so many readers pointing out how we can so often say the wrong things to someone affected by cancer.
- Mental Health — This blog started when my late mum felt writing might help me with my post-natal depression. It did and I am always delighted to share inspirational stories of how a mum can overcome PND and move forwards positively.
- About Kate – this is a new page giving you an insight into my life and times.
- Kate’s Manifesto — When I was at university, a bloke told me I speak in manifestos on occasion. I no longer feel embarrassed by that. Let’s be bold, reflective, and unapologetically female. With big changes in Government, it was interesting to see this manifesto for mums being read again.
- Kate’s Meanderings — This is what I used to do originally as a blogger just sharing the stuff on my mind. It helped me vent about the challenges and share the joys of parenting and life. I am going to return to that in my new chapter. For now, how lovely that readers are getting a window into our first days home educating.
- Comfort Food – I was surprised to see a toad in the hole recipe with a twist read quite so much in August. It’s perfect for the cooler months ahead.
- Book Review — I read The Playground Mafia some time ago and clearly had mixed feelings . It makes sense the post in proving popular with the Back to School period upon us.
- Top travel post — Short‑haul getaways from NYC – Woman on thin ice
- Top post about your home — Is Your Home Ready For Autumn? – Woman on thin ice
🌟 Moving Forward: The Era of Eleven
From now on, you’ll see Top 11 lists appearing regularly—monthly favourites, themed collections, seasonal reflections, even product round‑ups. It’s a format that feels playful and the perfect rhythm for Woman on Thin Ice.
