A general guide to a well-behaved dog

Dogs surely are man’s best friend and it is our responsibility to make sure that our dog is well-behaved.

A well-behaved dog will make for an excellent companion and will not be a burden. You would want that if you have guests over they should not be annoyed and your furniture should be safe too. A dog that keeps barking is a nuisance for not only you but your neighbors as well.

If you want to get your dog to be a ‘good boy’, you need to keep a couple of things in mind.

Get a personal trainer

When your dog is still a pup it is best to get a personal trainer. Train them young and they will turn out to be obedient and well-mannered. A good trainer will teach your dog how to take commands and will also keep the dog away from some very bad habits like biting and snapping.

Although you need to keep in mind that a trainer will only be there for some weeks or months and after that, you have to continue the regime set by the trainer

Ignore attention-seeking behavior

Dogs often resort to excessive barking and howling when they want something. At times their need is genuine but sometimes they also do this just to get your attention or to get something that is unreasonable.

You might have noticed that some dogs start barking at you when you’re eating something. They’re asking for your food even though they have already been given their food. Such behavior should be ignored and should bever be encouraged as it will become a habit.

Get a chew stick

A chew stick is a lifesaver for you and also a healthy snack for your dog. Dogs often tend to chew on your furniture. It is mostly due to teething but sometimes because it is simply a developed habit. Chew sticks like bully sticks can help solve such problems very easily. Apart from keeping the dog’s mouth busy somewhere away from your clothes and furniture, these sticks are also a good way to keep your dog’s teeth clean and healthy.

Keep a check on your anger at all times

The latest research has proved that a dog picks up a lot of the owner’s behavior. So if you are mostly in a sucky mood and you keep shouting all the time your dog will most probably turn out to be aggressive and moody. It is very important to keep a light head around your dog and show love not only to him but to other humans and animals around it.

Control their food supply

The worst thing you can do is to put extra food in your dog’s bowl. Food is the most precious resource for a dog and if you do not control that resource you will have a pampered and spoiled dog who you will have no control over. Make sure you stop the dog’s food supply if you register some misbehavior.

Our fluffy friends are probably the most friendly animals on the planet but in the end, they are animals and they do have to be trained using some technique. If you want your dog to be a flawless ‘good boy’ then you can try the aforementioned ways to get to that aim.
