Why Doing A Digital Detox Is So Good For Women

Have you ever tried a digital detox? It’s all the rage these days. People all over the globe turn off their phones and step away from their computers and try a few other things out for a while. The results are usually good for all genders, but when you’re a woman, it always ends up a positive thing.

Of course, knowing how to be safe online is a good thing. In fact, having digital skills makes the world a lot easier to navigate in general. However, that doesn’t mean you should spend all your time interacting with the digital side of life. So, if you’re a woman who spends a lot of time on her phone (or has mostly digital hobbies), here’s why a digital detox could be so good for you.

The World Feels Less Dangerous

When you’re a woman, the world can feel pretty dangerous. You’re reminded of this every time you go online. Social media provides a platform for women to tell their stories and advocate for others who have been through the same thing. Whilst this is a good thing, it can leave you feeling like every person you’re going to meet is out to harm you.

Rationally we know that social media is hardly representative of what goes on in the real world, but the effect still remains the same. For people who have worked with a sexual offence solicitor before, you’re going to have a more informed view of the world as is, but social media has a way of making you forget that.

That’s why coming off social media for a little while does wonders for your mental health. You give yourself a chance to rebalance and develop a more healthy view of the people around you. The world isn’t anywhere near as evil as it’s made out to be when it’s being concentrated through the social media filter.

If it feels impossible to delete Instagram or TikTok for a week at a time, limit your screen time to only an hour per day. You can set these controls from your phone’s settings, so you don’t even need to manually watch the clock.

You Can Focus on Other Things in Life

Speaking of screen time, have you ever checked these stats and been shocked by the results? No wonder it feels like you don’t have any time in the day! But with a digital detox in place, you have the chance to focus on other areas of life, including hands-on hobbies that make you happy.

Doing this can even remind you of the things that matter in life. You could start up a side hustle that fulfils you, spend more time with friends and family, and spend a bit more time in the outside world. Vitamin D deficiency is more common in women than men – why not soak up some sun?

Digital detoxes are great for women. If being online causes anxiety, put your phone down for a while.
