Body Worries: How To Let Go
If you’re someone with body worries, you help to make up the 20% of adults that live with self image issues. And while it’s a common trouble, that doesn’t make it any less stressful to live with! However, knowing you’re not alone can be a big help in overcoming your body worries and finally letting go of one or two of them. Indeed, you can even use the advice of people who have done it before, which we’ve detailed below for you! Keep reading if you need a bit of inspiration right now.
Body Worries: How To Let Go

Step Back From Social Media
Scrolling endlessly on Instagram and TikTok is bad for your health, and that’s a fact. However, it’s a common habit and one we connect to thousands of other people through. And while this sense of community is great, it can become toxic in just a few easy steps. You might not even notice it happening until that heavy feeling settles in your chest every time you open up your favourite social media app.
Unsolicited, judgemental ‘advice’ in the comments section? An airbrushed, picture perfect image that supposedly represents someone’s life? These are terrible things to be bombarded with on a second by second basis, so close the app and step back for a bit to calm down. Do this repeatedly and you’ll soon find it much easier to stay offline for longer than an hour at a time.
Do Things That Make You Feel Good
If you’re worried about your body, do things that make you feel good, rather than what you think will assuage someone else’s thoughts about you. If you want to eat that hamburger, go for it! If you’d rather do a 5 minute circuit workout than go for a 10k run, do it! And if you want to wear that crop top rather than something loose fitting, wear it and let yourself feel like the person you want to be.
After all, this is your life – the way you live it should be down to you. Put on what you want, eat what you want, carry out the activities that you love; if you needed ‘permission’ for any of these things, this post is here to give it to you!
Talk About Potential Health Worries
Sometimes body worries have an underlying issue that you should really see a doctor about. From a case of body dysmorphia to needing to visit a varicose vein clinic, to a potentially very serious eating disorder, your personal sense of body confidence could be medical in nature.
So it’s best to get out there and talk about it with someone who understands. Even if you think nothing is wrong, even if you’re sure this is something you can get over in time, always talk to a professional if it’s causing you significant stress.
If you’ve got body worries, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to live with them forever. Take your time, but try to let them go.
